Northrend Rare Mob Hunting

The rare mobs of Nothrend (the Silver Elites as they are also called) are a step up in terms of loot from their Outland and Azeroth counterparts. That, plus the Northern Exposure achievement (that requires killing at least once every single rare mob of Northrend), makes finding the Silver Elites a daunting task for the uninitiated hunter.

Not only do these hunted creatures drop various blue items, but also each of them is guaranteed to drop the Abandoned Adventurer’s Satchel. This container holds anything between 15 to 25 gold, a stack of Frostweave and various Crystallized Elementals.

Each zone is home to several Silver Elites and the below macro will allow you to trawl each area and simply spam one button as you fly over the potential spawn points of these endangered beings.

The macro only contains the first few letters of each rare mob’s name so that it fits in just 1 macro and can be easily spammed in whichever zone you are.

Just open your macro window, create a new macro and copy the above targeting text there. Then assign this to an easily accessible key and you are good to hunt for these elusive monsters.

The map below will also help you coordinate your search, as it presents a rough outline of where you will be likely to find rare beasts.

Silver Elites are usually extremely hard to find also because of their wonky spawn schedules. Some have 20 hour long spawns (spawning once every 20 hours), some need to be triggered by killing mobs in an area until the RNG (random number generator)slips the rare spawn instead of normal mobs, while others are dependant on other Silver Elites in the same area. Perseverance will certainly pay off though and you will almost surely be able to find and kill many of the Elites if you look for them on a daily basis.

Each Northrend zone is home to several Elites and below we will shortly present all of them.

Borean Tundra

Icehorn, a Rhino by design, is found just SE of Death’s Strand. He drops Mammoth Hair Crown (with random stat modifiers) in addition to the Satchel.

Old Crystalbark spawns in Coldarra and patrols around the Nexus. His main drop is a plate gauntlet with random modifiers (Crystalbark’s Toenail).

Fumblub Gearwind is piloting a Gyrocopter and patrols the Geyser Fields just north of Kaskala. He drops a leather chest, Fumblub’s Seat Cushion.

Dragonblight
Crazed Indu’le Survivor can be found usually just around Star’s Reach. The Tuskarr drops a pair of leather shoulders with random modifiers, the Seal-Fur Spaulders.

Scarlet Highlord Daion resides in New Hearthglen. She drops mail trousers, Highlord’s Padded Legguards.

Tukemuth is a neutral Mammoth patrolling the area around Wyrmrest Temple. He is stronger than normal Silver Elites and at 40k health it is not advisable to try soloing him until level 74-75. When killed he drops Mammoth-Riding Boots.

Grizzly Hills

Seething Hate is a Flesh Beast usually spawning in the caves south of Bluesky Logging Grounds. He leaves behind Ichor-Stained Wraps, a pair of blue cloth bracers.

Grocklar is an Iron Giant patrolling the SW part of Grizzly Hills. He is tough to solo by anyone under level 75 as he has 41k health and can crit for 4-5k. Still, if you manage to slay him, he will drop the Rock Giant’s Pinky Cover, a mail glove with random modifiers.

Syreian the Bonecarver is a Vrykul huntress that spawns in the area south of Thor Modan. She drops a pair of leather leggings, Syreian’s Leggings.

Howling Fjord

King Ping is, funnily enough, a penguin. A killer penguin noless! He spawn near Scalawag Point and drops an Egg-Warming Blanket (cloth chest) when slaughtered.

Vigdis the War Maiden is a Vrykul huntress spawning just west of Nifflevar. She drops a plate belt, the Soul-Sealed Belt.

Perobas the Bloodthirster is a Worgen that patrols around Caldemere Lake. From him you can get the mail Worgen-Scored Shackles.

Icecrown

High Thane Jorfus can spawn in many places in Icecrown, but is usually found either in the Fleshwerks or in Sindragosa’s Fall. He drops the Corroded Faceguard, a plate helmet.

Hildana Deathstealer is a Val’kyr that usually makes her home at the Savage Ledge in Jotunheim. She drops a mail chest, the Val’kyr Vestments.

Putridus the Ancient is a Flesh Giant that patrols all around Ymirheim in the valleys below. His path will take him through extremely hostile territory and considering he has 75k health and hits hard, it is advisable to try and pull him alone. He drops Giant’s Toewrap, a leather bracer.

Sholazar Basin
Aotona is a giant Bird patrolling the Wildgrowth Madrigal in Sholazar Basin. It drops Aotona’s Collar, a plate bracer.

King Krush, a Devilsaur patrolling the Wildgrowth Madrigal and the southern area of Sholazar, is a hard to kill Silver Elite. His 40k health may not seem like much, but he deals a lot of damage and often fears his victim. When disposed of, he drops King’s Eyesocket, a blue ring.

Loque’nahak is a Spirit Beast (the only one of its kind tameable by Hunters) and thus it is heavily camped. If you manage to find and kill it, it drops either Loque’nahak’s Severed Fang (necklace) or Loque’nahak’s Pelt (cloak).

Storm Peaks
Dirkee is a tough mechano-gnome patrolling the central area of Storm Peaks. He has around 50k health and hits plate wearers for up to 1.5k at a time. When killed he drops either the Titanium Brain-Gear (ring) or Dirkee’s Superstructure (a great 2handed mace, one of the few items dropped by Silver Elites that does not come with generic random modifiers).

Vyragosa is a Blue Dragon that flies around in the W part of Storm Peaks, near the Temple of Storms and Frosthold. She shares her spawn with the most sought after rare mob in the game, the Time-Lost Protodrake. When killed, she drops the Azure Dragonleather Helm.

Time-Lost Protodrake… oh how I camped you! The Silver Elite is known to always drop the Reigns of the Time-Lost Protodrake, a very special and very recognizable flying mount. Besides the mount, his loot table includes the Time-Forward Talisman, a blue necklace. He shares spawns with Vyragosa, so if she is up, the Protodrake will not be spawned.

ZulùDrak
Griegen is an Undead that spawns in the Dead Fields of Zul’Drak. It drops Ethereal Terror Handwraps, a pair of leather gloves.

Zul’drak Sentinel spawns smack down in the center of Zul’Drak. He drops a pair of plate legs, the Eternal Observer’s Legplates. He is tough to solo, having 45k health, dealing a ton of damage and Hexing (Polymorphing) every few seconds.

Terror Spinner is a Spider patrolling a small area in the NE part of Zul’Drak. He drops Calcified Web Spaulders, a pair of mail shoulders.

Besides the achievement, the loot and the prestige, Silver Elites are also much like miniquests. They require patience, luck and determination to find and when you do manage to down one, the reward is almost certainly worth it. So if you ever have time to spare and want to do something besides grinding, raiding or PvPing – go hunt some rares!

Rapid Boosting 45 to ~63 in UBRS (2 Million+ XP/Hr with RAF)

This guide describes how to use a level 80 tank to boost one or more characters in Upper Black Rock Spire. This may be considered an exploit, but I believe it's just clever use of game mechanics.

I use an 80 Protection Paladin for this and the numbers in my examples are effected by the Recruit-A-Friend Bonus. I am boosting 2 characters, level 55 and 53 in this example. The level requirement for Blackrock Spire is 45.

The area we will be working is the first room in UBRS, just past the antechamber of Blackrock Spire. I clear the antechamber each instance reset so my low levels have a safe place to hang out.

Just inside the old locked gate of URBS is a room with 7 chambers, each with a rune on the floor.

The red spots mark the location of this mob:
Blackhand Summoner

These mobs spawn portals through which adds are summoned to the fight. The long and short of this boosting technique is to aggro 4-6 of these summoners, run to an out-of-line-of-sight location, and let them summon a huge number of adds.

After initially pulling the first 4 chambers, I back into a corner and let them pile up.

A few tips:

1. Turn off Retribution Aura - The summoners will sometimes swing on you and will eventually kill themselves if Ret Aura is up.

2. I use Seal of Light and Judge Light on "Summoned (Mob Name) only. Don't kill your summoners. Otherwise I only use defensive skills until I have to kill them all off.

3. Bring at least 2 Shields. Eventually you will be able to watch the durability on your shields go to 0 rather quickly. Having 1-2 backups lets you tank them much longer, and the run to Thorium Point and back to repair a shield takes longer then the actual pull.

I do all I can to stay up for as long as possible. Finally, when I can't stay up any longer, I switch to Ret Aura, Seal of Vengence and start killing them off.

I haven't tried counting the number of mobs in each seperate pull. However, something interesting happens when enough of them are up. Mobs that you kill will almost instantly despawn. I think this depends on the number of other dead mobs, but I'm not 100% sure.

Finally, for the one pull I did to grab the screenshots for this post, here is the TitanXP results:

I have not tried this out of the RAF bonus, but I believe it would still be an extremely fast way to blow through level 45 to about 63.

Additionally, if this was done with another 80 (probably in plate), 1 person could tank while another loots the mobs. They drop decent silver for their level (up to 35 silver each). The Blackhand Veterans in the groups have an annoying charge and knockback that might make this difficult.

Farming Meat for a good amount of gold

there are all sorts of meats that sell on the Auction House for a good amount of gold. Not a whole lot of people go and farm meat so if you can create a stockpile of this stuff and put it on the market at the right time you can make serious bling. If you're a skinner then you are in for double duty, since all the beasts in world of Warcraft are skinnable. Here's a list of the most popular meat, following are maps where to farm the stuff. Keep in mind the average auction house values are average across hundreds of realms and are best used as a guideline not an actual amount.

Meat Recommended Level
Chunk o' Mammoth 70-80
Chilled Meat 70-80
Rhino Meat 70-80
Shoveltusk Flank 70-80
Worg Haunch 70-80
Worm Meat 70-80

Chunk o' Mammoth
This stuff is used when cooking Great Feasts, Mega and normal Mammoth Meals and Spiced Mammoth Treats.

Shattertusk Mammoth
The Shattertusk Mammoths have a 100% chance to drop Chunk o' Mammoth.

Mammoth Calves and Wooly Mammoths (level 70+)
The Mammoths in this area (Wooly, Bulls and even Calves) have a 50% chance to drop Chunk o'Mammoth and are levels 68-70.

Chilled Meat
Chilled meat drops from all Northrend mobs (except those that drop a specific type of meat, like Mammoths, Worms, Shoveltusk, etc). It is also valuable since cooks need about 5 a day to do their Dalaran Cooking Dalies.

Sholazar Basin (level 76+)
The Hardknuckle Cargers and Foragers have about a 60% chance to drop Chilled Meat.

Rhino Meat
Rhino Meat is used for Hearty Rhino, normal and Mighty Rhino Dogs and Rhinolicious Wormsteaks.

Borean Tundra (level 70+)
There's no reason to go anywhere else for your fix of Rhino Meat. There herb in Borean Tundra contains Wooly Rhino Calves, Matriarchs and Bulls that you can slaughter. Afterwards, head north and get your fix of Mammoth too.

Shoveltusk Flank
Shoveltusk Flanks are used in Shoveltusk Steaks, Tender Shoveltusk Steaks and Great Feasts and therefore fetch a great price.

Howling Fjord
Shoveltusks of any kind are only found in Howling Fjord. The best density of them is on the western continent where you will find ShoveltuskCalves, Stags and plain old "Shoveltusks" which all have a 40-50% drop rate.

Worg Haunch
These are used for mostly haste food, specifically: Roasted Worg, Very Burnt Worg and Worg Tartare.

Howling Fjord
There are plenty of low level Fanggore Worgs in Howling Fjord, these have a drop rate of 44%.

Worm Meat
Worm Meat is used in the Great Feast recipe as well as making Rhinolicious Wormsteak, Worm Delight and Spiced Worm Burger.

The Storm Peaks
This cave in The Storm Peaks has a ton of Jormungars which have a 100% chance to drop Worm Meat. There are also a lot of Worgs in this cave.

RAF (Recruit A Freind) Instance Powerleveling Guide

Assuming you are already familiar with the RAF process, this guide will show the most effective (that ive seen)
way to level 1-60 with RAF, with the "trial" account only upgraded with vanilla (Horde Side)

Map Key:
Blue = Enter Path
Green = Exit Path

First, i did all of this on a level 80 Unholy DK, back when Unholy Blight was an AOE around the caster, this allowed increased aggro range of low level mobs, making the process faster, he was wearing full dps gear 213 i level (nax25), and the 2 low level accounts (fully upgraded account and a new trial account) for 3 accounts total

1-8. for the first 8 levels simply quest and the prefered starting zone (IE: if the 2 raf chars are a Orc and Undead, pick Durotar or Silverpine, i find Durotar fastest)

8-15. Ounce you reach level 8, its time to head off to RFC, you only have to bring 1 of them low levels there, the DK i was using had a Mechano-Hog to drive him there, and he summoned the other account.

In the map it represents the path i take through RFC, on average RFC takes about 4min to clear and reset, after 5 runs you will be, if not at close to 15, if u need more runs and have reached the hour limit, wait, or log off if your going to time /played.

***NOTE*** Make sure to get the quest to aquire the heart from the Fel Guard Boss, this gives ALOT of xp, get it from the orc in the hut outside RFC. - Slaying the Beast

15-20. at 15 head to Wailing Caverns, in Wailing caverns i clear almost everything, skipping the escort quest, here is the path i use to clear it, i also pick up the quest to aquire 20 hides, and kill 7 of all the types of mobs, located above the entrance to WC, they give alot of xp.

20-38. at 20, time to head to SM cath, SM cath i do in 2 major pulls, the outside and inside, the outside ill run the right side of the hallways, and send my pet to aggro the left side, using ranged moves to gather the middle, we meet upstairs to do the second round and usally ill aoe everything down at the gate, ill open the gate and agro the boss pulling the whole room, aoe clear and reset, this is one of the fastest instance cleared, and your gonna have to wait for the hour reset alot.

38-44. head to ZF, you dont spend much time here, but make sure on your way to pick up the Ghaz'rilla Fang quest at the Raceway, and gather up the Troll Temper quest, Shell Quest, and Rod quest in Gadgetzen. at the stairway i run down and aggro everything, you end up having to wait about 2min, a few extra mobs will spawn until the boss will show, the room with all the scarabs i also aggro and kill, i do skip the graves though. quests are acceptable at level 42

44-49. at 44 go to ST (sunken temple), i run in the instance, going straight ahead going left, circle around to all trolls killing them and aggroing all trash along the way, ounce the last troll is dead, kill all trash and jump down, head towards the troll boss, dont aggro trash (intentionaly), ounce dead head to Eranikus, kill him, walk back as if leaving the instance, stop at the T intsersection and wait for all the dragonkin to reach you, AOE them down and then exit the instance & reset.

49-60. Strath dead&live, i run in the live side go into the cathedral and head to dead, kill the banshee and baron and then exit the dead side, enter on the dead side and reverse going dead side first and then going live, exit live, enter live and so on, you get the point.

Other Tips and info: if the trial if upgraded to BC (if the account is going to be used) at 55 switch to ramparts, ull need a mage portal to shatt to get there but its much faster.

At level 59 or so if you dont want to continue doing runs, grab all the quests at the town in EPL that have you gather 30 XXX item (core of elements, dark iron scraps, bone fragments, ext, ext) buy all the items from the AH and together they are will get you arounda level

with this, my record is level 60 after 13 hours /played, but most of the time i stayed logged in the game waiting for hour resets, logging out and moving faster would of reduced this a great sum.

Kalu'ak Fishing Derby Guide

What is Kalu'ak Fishing Derby

The Kalu'ak Fishing Derby it’s a full server contest like the Stranglethorn Extravaganza Contest and takes place in Northrend. You can do it every Saturday between 14:00 and 15:00 server time. The objective is to catch Blacktip Shark which is a rare fish that can only be caught during the Derby time. After you catch it you should deliver it to Elder Clearwater which is in Dalaran next to the fishing daily quest giver. The first one that will Deliver it will choose one of the two rewards.

Why doing it? What are the rewards?

The rewards from Kalu'ak Fishing Derby are the following:

- [Boots of the Bay] . A pair of boots that have a +15 bonus to fishing skill and an interesting use ability that teleports you to booty bay with 1 day CD. It is an item that might come handy several times.

- [Dread Pirate Ring] . A heirloom ring suited for all classes that gives you a +5% bonus on gaining experience. A valuable item for those that like leveling twinks and very good to have when Cataclysm releases.

How to do it

Preparation

- Put your HS to Dalaran.

- Learn the ability Find Fish from a Weather-Beaten Journal.

- Buy from AH Elixir of Water Walking unless your class provides you a similar ability.

- Bring with you the highest available lures and fishing gear.

- Go to the following location:

The process

- Always fish on fishing pools.

- Being in the specific spot you will ALWAYS have a pool available unless the area will get too crowdy.

- When you catch the fish immediately HS to Dalaran and complete the quest

- Decide your reward before starting the derby. Do not waste time on quest giver deciding which of the two items to get. I remember the first fishing contest I lost it because I was deciding which of the two items to get although I was first on quest giver.

- Do not be in raid

Good Luck!

Fishing gear and enchants

Ok, Since it was asked I will write some things about getting some decent starting gear as a fisherman and what kind of enchants you could use.

Fishing Poles

The best pole you can get is the Arcanite Fishing Pole (+40%). Apart from being the best it is also the hardest to get since it is the reward for winning StranglethornExtravaganza Contest. A guide for winning Stranglethorn Extravaganza can be found here: Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza - WoWWiki - Your guide to the World of Warcraft
Apart from that there are 3 fishing poles that give +30 fishing skill. The two of them are random rewards from doing daily fishing quests from the quest giver in Dalaran. The third is only available for those that have exalted reputation with Kalu'ak.
Finally the easiest fishing pole you can get (+25 skill) is the Nat's Lucky Fishing Pole and you can get it by doing the Nat Pagle, Angler Extreme quest.
Do not bother getting any fishing pole with lower skill than that

Head

Lucky Fishing Hat (5%). You can get it if you manage to fish Keefer's Angelfish in Stranglethorn Extravaganza.
Weather-Beaten Fishing hat (5%). It’s random loot from doing daily fishing quests.

Feet

Nat Pangle's Extreme Anglin' Boots (5%). You can get it if you manage to fish Brownell's Blue Striped Racer in Stranglethorn Extravaganza.
Boots of the Bay (15%). Reward from winning Kalu'ak Fishing Derby

Lines

Spun Truesilver Fishing Line (3%). It’s random loot from doing daily fishing quests.
High Test Eternium Fishing Line (5%). You can get it if you manage to fish Dezian Queenfish in Stranglethorn Extravaganza.

Enchants

Enchant Gloves – Fishing (+2%). Recipy droped from murlocs in Hillsbrad Foothills

Food

Captain Rumsey's Lager (+10%). The recipy is random loot from doing daily fishing quests.

Elixirs

Underbelly Elixir (50%). Rare effect.

Lures

Bright Baubles (+75%). Bought from all fisherman vendors.
Flesh Eating Worm (+75%). Dropped from Rotted One in Duskwood.
Aquadynamic Fish Attractor (+100%). You can buy them from fisherman vendors but they are rare spawns. They can also be crafted by engineers.
Sharpened Fish Hook (+100%). It’s random loot from doing daily fishing quests.
Glow Worm (+100%). It’s random loot from doing daily fishing quests.
Weather-Beaten Fishing hat [USE] ability (75%). It’s random loot from doing daily fishing quests.

How to Make Gold with Blacksmithing

There are a lot of options for making gold with Blacksmithing in World of Warcraft. The challenge is finding the specific things to craft on your realm and find buyers for them. The most lucrative item to craft is the Eternal Belt Buckle and ought to be the staple of every Blacksmith's income (see table below). With high cost items like Titansteel gear*, try to find a buyer before you craft the items. This isn't necessary but it can save you a lot of hassle. You can find a piece, like a Titansteel Destroyer on the Auction House for 1500g and try selling it in trade for 1400g and when you find a buyer craft it up right quick and sell it for the discounted price. You can utilize the high price as testimony for why your customer should pay 1400g. To help determine the value of each item accurate to the Auction House prices, I've included the below tables for all of the best Blacksmithing items. You can print these off and write in the prices of each material and add them up to calculate how much you'll need to sell the product for to make a profit. Most of the work with these high end items is in finding a buyer.

*Titansteel no longer sells this high. Each patch there is a new set of gear that can be crafted using the epic materials that drop from instances & raids.

  • Patch 3.0 iLvl 200 epics crafted from Frozen Orbs (list)
  • Patch 3.1 iLvl 226 items crafted from Runed Orbs (list)
  • Patch 3.2 iLvl 245 items crafted from Crusader Orbs (list)
  • Patch 3.3 iLvl 265 items crafted from Primordial Saronite (list)

Eternal Belt Buckles and Enchanting Rods
Eternal Belt Buckles are a new "mandatory" enchant used on belt equipment. It adds a new gem slot to the belt, so every level 80 is going to be buying one of these with each new belt they equip. These are a must for posting in the late afternoon and watching them sell when everyone gets their evening upgrades.

Rods also have the potential to sell very well. Their volume is much lower but some of them support very strong profit margins like the Arcanite and Eternium Rods. Don't flood the market with these, craft 5-10 of each and release them over several weeks for a steady stream of profit.

Ulduar Gear (Patch 3.1)
The following recipes drop from inside Ulduar, and therefore can be valuable if you are lucky enough to get one. They require a combination of 6 Rune Orbs, Saronite Bars, Eternal Fires, Eternal Airs, Eternal Shadows and 10 Titansteel Bars. You can sell this gear straight up in trade chat before you craft it. This is a good idea to do if you're not sure which items are worth and none are on the Auction House for comparison. A lot of players won't know that these items exist since several patches have come out since. For other characters they will have already gotten much better gear from doing the end-game raids so it won't be of much interest.

Crusader's Gear (Patch 3.2)
Crusader's gear is iLvl 245 and during Patch 3.2 was some of the best gear in the game. The recipes drop in Trial of the Crusader, so you will need a little bit of luck to obtain the recipes. Check the prices of the gear before you craft it, and if you can't do that then advertise the gear in trade chat before you craft it. Even after patch 3.2 people still like this gear because the prices of Crusader Orbs dropped accordingly.

Primordial Saronite Gear (Patch 3.3)
Primordial Saronite drops inside Icecrown Citadel Raids and can be purchased from Emblem of Frost vendors for 23 emblems. The recipes for the gear also drop in Icecrown Raid.. The more mature your realm and the longer it's been since Patch 3.3 was released will determine the prices. Just like with any other high level item it might not be a good idea to craft these without a buyer. Instead look for a buyer first via trade channel.

Cobalt Tanking Gear
The Cobalt tanking gear is an amazing way to make gold with Blacksmithing. Some realm Auction Houses don't have any of this stuff posted, and I guarantee you every level 68-72 wanna-be plate-wearing tank will load up the AH and search for this type of stuff. It is extremely useful for entry level Northrend dungeons. Advertise this stuff as a set in /2, it's total cost is 37 Cobalt so you can sell it for, say, 100-150 or even 300g to a customer! Imagine, the best level 70 tanking 7 piece set right at level 70 for only a few hundred gold!

Titansteel Weapons
A lot of new level 80s want to get the appropriate Titansteel weapon for their class. I've found several buyers while flying through Storm Peak and Icecrown mining, I've even found a buyer while helping them with Icecrown dailies. Some level 79s don't realize that they can get such awesome items right at level 80 for such a low price.

If scouting for buyers while mining isn't your style, trade channel can work as well. Even if an existing item is selling on the Auction House you can undercut it without actually making it yet (just make sure you have the mats). You can advertise the uncut price in trade and when people claim the price isn't fair, refer to the Auction House price (you can also use an alt to post items at inflated prices to help sell items on other characters)

Tempered Titansteel (defense)
Tempered Titansteel is amazing for new tanks reaching level 80. It's somewhat mandatory gear to enter heroics or entry level raids. Some may argue the Treads aren't worth their epic status (and this is why the average price is so low).

Brilliant Titansteel (crit, mp5 & spellpower)
The Brilliant Titansteel set is geared for Paladins. As you can tell by the average price these items don't sell for a whole lot compared to the other Titansteel gear. I would definitely try to line up a buyer before trying to make a profit on this gear.

Farming Iceweb Spider Silk

Iceweb Spider Silk is used by Tailors in various epic and rare tailoring patterns such as spellthreads, mounts, and gear. On average it sells for 1g and 50s each or 30g a stack. IcewebSpider Silk only drops in Drak'Tharon Keep, Naxxramas, The Storm Peaks, and Zul'Drak.

The following map shows you where you can find Iceweb Spider Silk in The Storm Peaks.

It drops off of Crystalweb Spitters (29%), Crystalweb Weavers (29%), and Icetip Crawlers (6%).

The following map shows the locations where you can find Iceweb Spider Silk in Zul'Drak.

It drops off of Trapdoor Ambushers (38%) and Trapdoor Crawlers (28%).

Farming Relics of Ulduar

Relics of Ulduar are a staple of the economy and will remain so until an easier to obtain shoulder enchant is released. All level 80s who are not scribes will need to earn Sons of Hodir reputation to earn their level 80 shoulder enchant. They drop from most mobs in The Storm Peaks, some have higher chances than others, but most of all, some have overall higher yields if you consider all of what they drop combined. For example, Seething Revenants east of Dun Niffelem near Fjorn's Anvil, have a reasonable drop rate for both Relics of Ulduar and Crystallized Fire. However, they are Fire Elementals that are often heavily farmed.

Each area tends to have its downsides and sometimes you might just be sick of an area and want new scenery. So, I've listed my top 5 favorite Relic farming areas, each has a high overall yield from either Eternals or Frostweave.

A) Nidavelir
The Stormforged Magus, War Golems, Champions and Artificers are probably the best farming spot for Relics of Ulduar. On both sides of the valley there are tons of Stormforged humanoids who drop tons of Frostweave and Relics. They are tightly packed and there are enough to keep going forever.

B) Sifreldar Village
Sifreldar village is my second favorite spot for farming Relics. The Sifreldar Storm Maidens and Runekeepers drop extra Frostweave Cloth along with Relics.

C) Thunderfall
Thunderfall is a great place for Relics. It would be my first pick if it wasn't so heavily populated by people doing Sons of Hodir dailies. The Niffelem Forefathers, Restless Frostborn Ghosts and Warriors drop plenty of Frostweave Cloth. This is a good place to go during obscure server hours, like 5am ST.

D) Fjorn's Anvil
Fjorn's Anvil is a classic place to farm both Crystallized Fire, the Seething Revenants drop the Relics along with Crystallized Fire, sometimes I go here for the bonus of getting the extra Eternals. You can sneak out onto Frostfield Lake and kill Brittle Revenants too, they drop Crystallized Earth and Relics.

E) The Howling Hollow
This cave is full of Scion of Storms, they drop Crystallized Air and Relics. This is a good spot to get away from the crowd if Thunderfall and Fjorn's Anvil is too populated and you don't want to fly across the zone.

Low Level Farming For Mount

Introduction

Remember that the higher level you are the more gold you will earn per hour, you have to think about why you choose to farm gold at low level in the first place. Free gear upgrades are available via questing, and this is easy as long as you do quest at your own level (Yellow or Green colored quest).

So the only reason that you would need to farm at low level is to obtain your first level 30 mount (total cost 45g). Otherwise focus on achieving Level 70 with our leveling guide before you begin focusing on Gold Farming.

And at Level 60 you might want to farm some more to upgrade to a Fast 100% ground mount.

Power Farming Tips

Gear selections is important, the idea is to kill as fast as you can. Try to stack up on as much as offensive gear as possible, e.g. having extra Stamina is worthless as you can recover quickly with bandages. Having more Strength, Agility or Intellect and Spirit is far more important.

Turn on Auto Loot, Most items stack, sort all unwanted at the same time later, key here is to save time and loot as fast as you can.

Minimize downtime. Sometimes you don’t need full health to carry on.

Focus DPS on all mobs. Don’t bother focusing your damage to kill one mob at a time as killing them all at the same time is always faster even though you end up with less HP but that’s easily recoverable with bandages.

Before You start

Empty your bags leave all unnecessary stuff in the bank you need all the bag space you can get. Make sure you’re fully repaired and stocked up on food, water and other reagents required for your class e.g. (flash powders for rouges). Running out of reagents or food can cost your precious farming time.

Bags
Try to fill up all your bag slots, as more bag slots = more profit. This will save you time running back to the vendor to empty your bag. Don’t be afraid to purchase bags because all bags are not Soulbound that means you can use it then resell it when you decide to upgrade.

Level 1 – Just use what you can find from mobs.
Level 9 – Don’t worry about 6 slot bags, save up for 8 slot bags which are usually about 15s-20s each.
Level 18 – You should have a full set of 10 slot bags costing around 40s each.
Level 30 – Skip 12 slot bags and get a 14 slot bag which costs around 2g-2g50s each.

Level 30 Gold Farming Guide

Thunderaxe Fotress (5-7g/hour) : Farming Humanoid for Silk Cloth is the best way to earn maximum gold in a short time without involving any proffession. In Desolace there's a high amount of humanoid that will drop a lot of Silk Cloth. You should be able to get about 30-40 Silk Cloth an hour.

This is the easiest place for ANY Level 30 character to collect Silk Cloth and the NPCs are all level 30

On average you will collect

1g20s of money picked up
36 Silk Cloth = 3g60s
5 Trash Grey Armor/Weapons average vendor price of 10s each = 50s
1-2 Green Item worth about 50s each in AH

Other Level 30 Location

Arathi Highlands (5-7g/hour): This is also a very good location if you prefer to farm in the Eastern Kingdom, being close to Refuge Point & Hammerfall makes it ideal to minimize travel time. However the NPC are slightly higher level at 31-32.

Level 40 Gold Farming Guide

Scarlet Monastery (16-18g/hour): The Scarlety Monastery is located in Trisfal Glades Horde territory but Alliance can access them as well. It’s divided into 4 parts Graveyard, Cathedral, Armory and Library.

Graveyard is best for farming simply because of mobs Unfettered Spirit (30-31) these mobs have the same drop % rate as elite mobs even though they’re non-elite and very easy to kill.

in 1 hour of farming using average gear you will gain.

2g50s of money picked up.
3x Stack of Silk Cloth average AH price of 2g per stack = 6g
10 Trash Grey Armor/Weapons average vendor price of 18s each = 1g80s
10 level 27-30 Green BOE items average AH price of 90s = 9g
2 Gems (Citrine / Lesser Moonstone / Jade) AH price of 1g each = 2g

Grand total of around 18g per hour

It is usually better if you Disenchant the green items and sell the mats

This is possible for any level 40 class, by ignoring (sneaking pass) the elite mobs and killing mostly the triplets of Unfettered Spiri (26-32)

Horde: Set your hearth to Brill.

Alliance: Set your hearth to South Shore. Takes a bit longer for alliance to reach SM than horde but using this guide it should only take you no more than 5mins with a level 30 mount. Read below for shortest route to Scarlet Monestary

Shortest route to Scarlet Monestary for Alliance

From South Shore run North to Alterac Mountains, follow the road to Western Plaguelands, along the road in Western Plaguelands you should reach Chillwind Camp and you can pick up a new flight path. From Chillwind Camp follow the road head North West see map.

Swim through the water, after you reach the other side of the water unfortunately you might run into at least 2 level 55 mobs that will most likely kill you, avoid them and keep running to your destination as best as you can. After you die return to your corpse resurrect and keep running to Bulwark you’re safe from any high level mob once you reach bulwark and run the rest of the way to SM. Allowing for 1 death it should take no more than 10 mins but If you’re in a PVP server it can take you longer if you run across to any Horde.

If you’re a Rouge or Druid this is ideal as you’ll be able to avoid dying quite easily. Safest way to travel is to go through Silverpine Forest, running on foot will take you at least 15mins without dying.

When you reached Scarlet Monastery

Go into the Graveyard instance, to reach the Unfettered Spirit (26-32) area you only need to kill 2 elite mobs, and bypass the rest. Download this quick clip to show you how. Any class should be able to solo the Unterred Spirit (26-32) you just need to watch out for patrolling mobs. Keep an eye out for a rare spawn elite mob such as Fallen Champion (32-33)+ and Ironspine (28-33)+ they guarantee a Rare BOP drop and sometimes a Rare BOE drop which you can sell for tons of gold. This area is likely to have a chest as well, if it's not there it's most likely inside the building ahead, you can reach them by killing the mobs. The chest contains 1-2 random Green BOE to sell at AH. Once you run of Unfettered Spiri (26-32) to farm, reset the instance in these steps.

Resetting the Instance

1. Leave the instance
2. Right click your potrait
3. Select Reset all instance and confirm Yes.

When you finish

After about an hour it’s likely that you’re running out of bag space, its time to hearth back to Brill (Horde) or South Shore (Alliance). Sell all grey items to any vendor and head over to the mail box. Mail all items you wish to sell in the AH to your mule. Repair, stock up and head back to SM until you have enough.

Other Farming location for Level 40

Badlands (12-20g/hour) : Just east of Kargath Rock Elemental (36-38), these drop [Elemental Earth] which are worth around 2-5g each on most servers and they drop high value grey stones to sell to vendors. On an average hour you will earn 3g worth of grey stones vendor items, and 4 [Elemental Earth] which sell for about 2-5g in most servers.

Alterac Mountains (10-16g/hour with Skinning): At Growless Cave farm the large population of Mountain Yeti (30-33) and Giant Yeti (32-34). With your skinning they can drop a variety of Leather and Hide. [Heavy Leather] has the highest drop rate, and if you’re lucky you can find [Large Fang] which is very valuable in the AH.

In an average hour with skinning you will earn:

1g60s of money picked up
3x 20 [Heavy Leather] average AH price of 2g50s per stack = 7g50s
35 [Medium Leather] average AH price of 5s each = 1.75g
18 [Heavy Hide] average AH price of 15s each = 2g70s
4 [Medium Hide] average AH price of 5s each = 20s
8 [Large Fang] average AH price of 50s each = 4gs

Any level 40 class should be able to kill and skin these yetis non-stop, if there’s other people in the area also killing the yetis usually they’re questing and you can skin their kills. For level 40 with skinning this is better than going all the way to SM since it’s very close to Tarren Mill and South Shore. Zero downtime is the key you should at least be able to kill and skin a yeti every 30 seconds that will get you at least a variety of 120 leather/hides total.

Level 60 Farming guide

Power Farming Scarlet Monastery (45-50g/hour): Yes SM Graveyard is still one of the best places to farm even when you’re level 60 because you can do it at a much faster rate. Zone in and kill every ‘Unfetered Spirits’ and any elite mobs that are guarding the chest.

On an average run you will get:

30 [Silk Cloth] average AH price of 3g
6 Grey Armor/weapons average 30s each = 1g80s
6 level 27-30 Green BOE items average AH price of 90s = 5g40s
1 level 27-30 Rare BOP items average vendor price of 35s
1g80s of money picked up

Grand total of 10g minimum per run

It is usually better if you Disenchant the green items and sell the mats

A level 60 player can do this entire run in less than 15 mins depending on character so that’s a minimum 4 runs an hour for 36g/hour. A paladin can do this run the fastest by agroing all the enemy then use Shield and Consecration doing 5 runs an hour is achievable with an AOE class.

Recent patch have reduced the number of times you can enter an instance to a maximum of 5 instances an hour. This won't affect this farming technique at all as doing more than 5 runs an hour is quite difficult.

You might want to skip grey vendor trash items and pick up only green items as the trip time spent unloading your goods can add up.

Western Plaguelands Heartglen and Eastern Plaguelands Tyr’s Hands

(30-35g/hour) or (65-85g/hour with Mining):

Farming level 54-57 Elite in Heartglen an hour will earn you on average 35-55g/hour with Mining. These elite's are very easy to kill one at a time, you must interrupt their healing and you should be able to farm these continously.

7 Grey Armor/Weapons average vendor price of 1g each = 7g
2 Green BOE items average AH price of 3g = 6g
40 [Runecloth] 4g per stack = 8g
12g of money picked up

Heartglen have 5 spawn point for Rich Thorium Vein. But only a maximum of 2 will spawn at the same time. Tyr’s Hand also has these veins which make this an ideal place for miners to farm. But it depends on the popularity of the area you’re farming, you might have to compete with other farmers to reach the vein first. If you’re the only one farming the area which can happen sometimes, your potential profit sky rockets.

The rich thorium vein spawns every 15-20mins and they always spawn those 5 points so remember to patrol for the veins every 10 mins. Its often that you get an [Arcane Crystal] (worth around 20g on most servers) an hour if you have control of both veins.

Thorium Ore worth more unsmelted worth over 20g per stack of 20.

Rich Thorium Vein Locations in Hearthglen

Fireballs anywhere (And create lag with a G15 keyboard)

If you use this to lag people out, its bannable, use at your own risk. Just firing it normally is fine though.

The bombs from Intercept the Reinforcements Can be used anywhere. They make a fireball that looks cool etc etc, anyone can grab them (70+). If you have a g15 keyboard or another way to spam a key+mouse press extremely fast (100+ of each a second) then you can use this item to create lag spikes (and a really, really cool explosion).

The macro: Have your G15 macro press whatever button you keybound the bombs to then left click. If you don't want lag, put in a 0.1 second delay then copy it and paste it as many times as you want.

If you want lag, do not put in the delay and put in as many fireballs as you want, the more in the macro the laggier it will be (Personally I made one that lags the area out for ~5 secs and another that just makes one short lag spike).

If your macros aren't working, try putting on repeat while pressed.

Kill ANY enemy as Mage

Two Words: Spell. Steal.

Shadows in the Dark

Stacks to 99. Scales 100% with spell power. Kills ANYTHING that touches you.

To find out how much damage it will do, use this simple formula.

(Base)(SpellPower)(Stack)=(Damage)

This is slightly incorrect Though. The proper formula is: (Base+1.5(SpellPower))(Stack), leading to lower numbers then posted.

or,

(450)(2000)(10)=9,000,000

Thats way over 9000, people. In fact, you can't even hit 99 stacks (the max) because there isn't a mob that has 135,000,000 health (450x3000x99, rounded).

Now, many people don't believe me. No one in my guild did. So I asked a friend to come and heal me while I had the buff, while waiting in ICC. It works. It 100% bonafide kills ****.

Proof of idea:

proof of concept:

proof it works outside utgarde pinnacle:

Soloing (complete solo) Kazzak - 500g in 15 minutes (Doomwalker when he respawns, also has 500g drop).

Because I just made 517g in 5 minutes.

Also made 501g in 5 more minutes, a few days later.
