Proc Spirit Tap after not killing anything

So, I was on my newly made priest, and I decided to pick up Jewel crafting. I had a bunch of rough stones in my bank so I made those little stone statues. I threw one down, healed me, and much to my surprise, after the statue disappeared, I got the talent buff Spirit Tap. When I checked in the combat log, it even showed that I actually gained the buff (Spirit Tap).
