Gear to Look For
Bandit, Eagle, Elder, Falcon, Hunt, Hierophant, Invoker, Monkey, Owl, Physician, Prophet, Sorcerer

Talent Templates
The talent tree I've chosen as best for grinding is enhancement. You can do it in elemental if you want but I seem to have problems surviving when fighting multiple mobs there or I run out of mana and there's down time. With enhancement you have all kinds of tools that are at your disposal to help with multiple mobs, like ghost wolves, and there's not much down time with Shamanistic Rage.

Rotation Suggestion
Stormstrike, Flame Shock, Lava Lash, Maelstrom Proc or Auto Attack then repeat (don't forget to imbue your weapons with Windfury and Flametongue)

What rogue builds are best for anything is a highly controversial topic. I'm not going to tell you
that combat swords is the best farming build, what I am going to tell you is it's what I use to
farm, I like it the best because it seems to have good survivability and allows for you to fight an
enemy toe to toe easier.

Rotation Suggestion
Sinister Strike till full on combo points, then either Slice and Dice if the mob has enough health
left or just Eviscerate. You can also get a head start on combo points by Cheap Shotting out of
stealth.

The frost tree is the best talent tree to play in for leveling, grinding, and surviving. There are a

Winterveil! Stockup!! (What, already!?)

Another little gold making tip.

Every year Winterveil comes through, and people need small eggs, I'm not sure why, cookies or something.

Here are in, (My Opinion) The best spots to farm them.

Alliance!

Westfall, Anywhere you see a vulture, pull it's head off. And still it's eggs.

Horde!

Outside Silvermoon City, Dragonhawks! Same deal, de-head them and loot the eggs, I'm sure someone could whip up a botting profile for these,

If you're going to do that swing by Curse.com - WoW Addons WAR Addons Gamer Blogs Forums and pick up Lootfilter.
LootFilter - Addons - Curse

Last year I made a killing off this by dominating the AH, I got (over all of Winterveil a total of 2500g~

A note on lootfilter, only allow it to filter bags that don't contain reagents / food, etc.

I made a mistake of not doing this and lost 600 symbol of kings and 100 food and water. -.-

Also if your botting, be sensible.
DON'T get banned.
DO make money.

  • Has abilities to go completely immune to all damage for a period of time
Weaknesses
  • Dependant on mana
  • Limited ranged abilities
  • Lower base hit points than Warriors

  3. Stamina
Stats To Get For DPS:
  1. Strength, Crit
  2. Agility, Hit, Expertise, Attack Power
  3. Stamina
Gear to Look For
You'll be wearing plate all the time except when you are healing then it's okay to use any armor you get with good stats. Sometimes you can go down to mail armor if your plate armor slot is bad but it's not recommended.

Here is some gear to look out for:
Bandit, Bear, Beast, Champion, Eagle, Elder, Hierophant, Invoker, Monkey, Owl, Prophet, Sorcerer, Tiger

Talent Templates
Most people use the retribution tree to grind for at least the first 30 levels, but the build template I'm going to give you is for the protection tree. I wouldn't use it till you pick up Judgment of Light at level 30 though. The reason I choose protection for grinding is that you can solo really really hard bosses in this spec or you can AoE grind (pull multiple mobs at a time) and burn them down. The 1on1 DPS is not the greatest but it's manageable, your focus should be to pull multiple mobs always.

Rotation Suggestion
Avenger's Shield, (when you have it), Holy Shield (when you have it), Hammer of Righteousness (when you have it), Consecration, Judgment of Light

Hunter Talent Guide

Strengths
  • Can tame pets
  • Long ranged damage
  • Crowd control abilities
  • Run speed enhancing buffs (aspects)
  • Limited down time with pet tanking

Weaknesses
  • Can only wear cloth, leather, and mail armor
  • Can be hard to keep pet alive in certain circumstances
  • Can't melee very well
  • Has to maintain a certain range to maintain ranged damage

Stats To Get For DPS:
  1. Agility
  2. Stamina, Hit
  3. Attack Power, Crit
  4. Intellect

Gear to Look For
For the most part you will avoid all cloth. Leather can be okay but most leather only comes with agility/stamina and no intellect which can be a very helpful stat. For the most part you will stay withmail armor and make sure you have a good DPS ranged weapon. Don't melee with your hunter when possible or people will make fun of you.

Here is some of the green gear you can get if you don't have anything decent:
Monkey, Bandit, Hunt, Falcon

Talent Templates
You will be doing all of your farming in the beast mastery tree. The beast mastery tree allows for your pet to put out a significant amount of damage while holding aggro so you can sit back on auto shoot if you want and go afk.

Stay in beast mastery for all of your beginning points, the focus here is to enhance your pet damage and avoidance so it can tank (this allows for almost no down time because you can heal your pet). Once you get all your points into the beast mastery tree start in marksmanship and begin working on your crit and attack power.

Rotation Suggestion
Pet attack, Arcane Shot, Multi-Shot, Steady Shot, Steady Shot, Arcane Shot, Mutli-Shot (auto shot fires automatically)

Mountain of Mounts

With a new set of content coming up soon with Cataclysm, there are a lot of people who are seeking a route to knock out the achievements they have not yet had a chance to complete. This includes the likes of Leading the Cavarly and Mountain o’ Mounts. For those interested in getting their achievements knocked out before they reach the end of the content in 3.3, here are a couple of short guides.

Leading the Cavalry
This first achievement requires you to obtain 50 mounts, for which you will receive an Albino Drake as a reward. There are many ways to go about getting 50 mounts, but the easiest route is to get the 32 standard Horde and Alliance mounts – which you should be able to easily obtain if you have high enough reputation with all of the capital cities. Other mounts to snag include:

  • 7 Standard Flying Mounts purchasable in Shadowmoon Valley
  • 5 Cheap Mounts from Argent Tournament
  • 6 PvP Mounts Available with the Marks of Honor

Of course there are plenty of other ways to go about mapping out this list of mounts. You could always go with daily quest and get the Netherwing or Sha’tari Skyguard mounts instead of the PvP options. Another option is farming on Kurenai/Mag’har reputation instead because of how easy it is (though it is a grind).

Mountain O’Mounts
While Leading the Cavalry is an easy enough achievement to snag, the next one up is a chore – with 100 mounts required to get there. That means you’ll need to snag 49 more mounts than what you just got (you’ll get the Albino Drake for free). For those that manage to get all 100 mounts, you’ll receive a Red or Blue Dragonhawk depending on your faction. Here are some tips to help you get those mounts in a relatively decent amount of time.

If your class has its own mounts, you already have an added advantage because you can just land those early and have more than other people.

To start with, you need to go out and start bolstering your reputation with a few select factions. Here is a list of those that you should work on for mount rewards:

Kirin Tor – The Kirin Tor faction can be built up by equipping a
Tabard of Kirin Tor and running the instances in WotLK on heroic that reward reputation for that tabard. You will gain between 1000 and 3000 reputation per run through while wearing your tabard.

Cenarion Expedition – The Cenarion Expedition faction is located mostly in Outland, but also a bit in Borean Tundra. To get what you need, you will need to complete all of the quests provided by these factions in Blade’s Edge, Zangarmarsh, Hellfire Peninsula, and Borean Tundra. Even then, you’ll still need some more reputation, so run the Coilfang Reservoir a few times – you can do this solo in about 20 minutes for 2000 reputation when you turn in the armaments you can loot here.

Sons of Hodir – It takes 27 days to reach Exalted while doing all of
the Dailies provided in Storm Peaks every day. Make sure you keep close track and get all of your dailies done each day or this could take even longer.

Netherwing – The Netherwing Reputation requires that you complete daily quests in Shadowmoon Valley. The full grind is about a month long if you do all the quests every day until you reach Exalted. You should be able to get your Eggs very quickly here as well for a faster boost in speed.

Sha’tari Skyguard – For this faction, you’ll need to complete
daily quests in Terokkar Forest and Blade’s Edge mountains for about 5 weeks. You can also gain some extra reputation if you summon Terokk and the minibosses – which rewards a total of 2500 reputation for a half hour of work.

Mag’har, Kurenai – For these two factions, you’ll need to farm on
Obsidian Warbeads in Nagrand. The best places to do this are in the Ruins and Warmaul Hill. It can be done in a solid day if you put your mind to it.

Wyrmrest Accord – Make sure to equip the Wyrmrest Accord tabard and then run 5 man dungeons for 1000 to 3000 Reputation per run through.

City Factions and Main Faction – Make sure that all of the Horde
or Alliance factions are at exalted. To do this, you’ll need to complete all of the quests in the starting zones as well as Argent Tournament dailies to get them all up there. You should already have at least two of the five up to Exalted – make sure to get the other three there as well.

The Oracles – You only need to get to revered with this faction so
that you can get the Mysterious Egg which will allow you to possible get a mount after 7 days. It takes no extra work and just a few gold to buy, though the chances of getting the mount are relatively random.

Once you’ve gotten all of your reputation up to par, it’s time to spend a few minutes getting the currency in line. It’s going to cost quite a bit to snag all of those mounts as well. Here’s a complete list of cash, tokens, and everything else you’re going to need to pick up your mounts.

  • Cash – You’re going to need at least 50,000 Gold to get everything you need. Start saving.

  • Champion’s Seals – You’ll need around 525 of these puppies. You’re going to get about 5 of these a day (6 after you reach Exalted with all of the Horde/Alliance factions), so this should take 105 days or 3 months if you do it every day.

  • Stone Keeper’s Shards – You need approximately 300 of these to knock this off your list. The max is 40 a week with weekly Wintergrasp quests. Keep in mind that you can get a few extra shards as well if your faction controls Wintergrasp when you run heroics.

  • Emblems of Heroism – You’ll need 200 of these. You can get 2 of these from every daily heroic you run, plus a whole lot of them when you run raids. You can also exchange your Valor and Conquest Emblems for 1 Heroism Emblem each.

  • Marks of Honor – You’ll need a number of Marks of Honor from different battlegrounds. Get 200 for Alterac Valley, 150 for Warsong Gulch, and 150 for Arathi Basin.

  • Halaa Battle and Research Tokens ‐ These tokens can be gotten in Nagrand for a number of different things. You’ll need 170 Battle tokens and 35 research tokens. To get the battle tokens, you can either grind for days in Nagrand or you can get your Warlock friend to kill and resurrect themselves over and over again. For research tokens, you’re going to need to farm a LOT because the drop rate is only 8%. However, you can get a good amount of Oshu’gun Crystal Powder while doing your Kurenai farming for the Warbeads. Make sure to keep it all for this purpose.
Buying the Mounts
Once you’ve gathered all of the tokens, cash, marks, and emblems you need, you should be able to turn them in for 86 mounts. Toss in the free Albino Drake you get for Leading the Cavalry and you will have 87 total. You can also buy a Chopper or Hog from the Auction House for 20,000 gold, getting you to 88. Additionally, if you are a Warlock, Paladin or Tailor, don’t forget to include your special mounts that other classes and professions do not have available to them.

Getting to 100

Once you’ve bought, traded, acquired or looked up all of the mounts you can get, you will still need to get another 5‐12. That means some grinding and achievement completions to get knock out a few random/rare options.

To start with, there are achievements that can reward you with mounts for your efforts. These achievements include:

The Culling of Time – Finish off the Caverns of Time: Stratholme
in 20 minutes and defeat the Infinite Corruptor to get your special mount – a Bronze Drake.

Glory of the Ulduar Raider – Complete all of the rare achievements in Ulduar including the following:

  • Orbit‐uary
  • Iron Dwarf, Medium Rare
  • I Choose You, Steelbreaker
  • Crazy Cat Lady
  • Lose Your Illusion
  • Firefigther
  • One Light in the Darkness
  • Stokin’ the Furnace
  • Heartbreaker
  • Disarmed
  • I Could Say That this Cache Was Rare
  • Knock, Knock, Knock on Wood
  • I Love the Smell of Saronite in the Morning

For the Horde/Alliance – You need to complete all four achievements that involve killing the leaders of the Alliance or Horde. This involves going into
the four opposing faction capital cities and killing their main lore characters. You will usually need a group for this.

The Twilight Zone – Kill Sartharion with 3 Drakes still alive
in 10 man mode. You can get the drake in 25 man mode too, but it’s a bit harder, so there’s no reason for it.

In addition to achievements, you can gain quite a few mounts by looking for random drops in the world. They are random so they can take quite a bit of time to gather, but they are usually relatively easy to snag. Some of the places to look include:

Temple of Ahn’Qiraj Mounts – There are 4 Mounts available in this 40man raid back in the old world. The drop rates are rare, so you are going to want to use a trick to keep them from despawning. Enter the Temple and fight the first four bosses there, but only kill 3 of them. Then, leave the temple and come back in again to kill them again for a chance to get the mounts from them. If you keep doing this, you will eventually get at least some of these mounts.

White Chicken – You can loot the white chicken from Kael’thas in
Magister’s Terrace at a 2% drop rate. It can be soloed by most characters who are geared for end‐game content, but if you cannot solo it, you can still get through with just one other person in tow.

Zul’Gurub Mounts – There are two mounts in Zul’Gurub – the Swift Razzashi Raptor and the Swift Zulian Tiger. You can get the raptor off of Bloodlord Mandokir and the tiger off of High Priest Thekal. You can only try this every 3 days, but if only takes a few minutes and you can continuously try every 3 days until they drop. Most classes can solo these bosses at this point (if you can’t, bring a friend).

Grand Black War Mammoth – You can get this mount off of any of the Vault of Archavon bosses. Go into these fights with as few players as you can get away with and make sure to do all three on both 10 and 25 man each week to get 6 chances to get the drop. It might take two or three weeks to get it, but it’s an easy one to snag.

White Polar Bear – In Storm Peaks, there is a daily quest chain with Brunnhildar that will reward you with a White Polar Bear. There are four daily quests from this NPC that will reward you with Hyldnir Spoils, which may contain the reins for this mount. The four dailies include:

  • Back to the Pit
  • Defending Your Title
  • Maintaining Discipline
  • The Aberrations Must Die

This list is by no means complete. There are still quite a few rare mobs that you can snag throughout the game if you don’t yet have your 100 mounts. Here is a less detailed list of additional mounts that you can hunt for if you’re close but not quite there:

  • Deathcharger’s Reins – 1% Droprate in Stratholme from Baron Rivendare
  • Fiery Warhorse – 0.7% Droprate in Karazhan from Attunmen the Huntsman
  • Raven Lord – 1% Drop Rate in Sethekk Halls (Heroic)
  • Swift White Hawkstrider – 2% Drop Rate from Magister’s Terrace (Heroic)
  • Ashes of Al’ar – 1.7% Drop Rate from Tempest Keep
  • Blue Proto Drake – 1 % Drop Rate from Utgarde Pinnacle (Heroic)
  • Time Lost Proto Drake – 100% Drop Rate from Rare Mob in Storm Peaks (12 Hour Respawn)
  • Mimiron’s Head – 100% Drop Rate from Yogg Saron on 25 man mode with 0 Watchers
  • Brewfest Mounts – Swift Brewfest Ram and the Great Brewfest Kodo drop in blackrock Depths
  • Headless Horseman’s Mount – 0.3% Drop Rate from Scarlet Monastery during Hallow’s End
Good luck getting those mounts and make sure to keep your eyes out. There are always new mounts being added to the game that can help you load up on the necessary number to get this achievement. You never know when you’ll stumble across a rare one to help
push you over the top.

The New Icecrown Citadel Instances

With the 3.3 patch, a variety of new content is coming to the game in the Icecrown Citadel Instances. There will be four new instances total with the new Raid instance being The Frozen Throne and additional content appearing in the three new 5 man instances. As of the writing of this guide, testing is underway on the 5 man bosses and the raid bosses, so we don’t yet have complete strategies to go over, but soon enough we’ll be able to take a much closer look at these instances and what they mean for players. Here are some details about each instance:

The Frozen Throne
The Frozen Throne will be the newest 10/25 man raiding instance. It consists of three separate wings, then the final battle with the Lich King, completing the storyline that was started with the release of Wrath of the Lich King. You will join forces with HIghlord Tirion Fordring, High Overlord Saurfang, Muradin Bronzebeard, Highlord Darion Mograine, and King Varian Wrynn to fight the Scourge and the Lich King in this instance.

There are 12 total encounters in this instance (see below) and each encounter can be fought on 10 man or 25 man and on normal or heroic difficulty. You can also now toggle between difficulties with ease on the new UI option added in the 3.3 patch. The items in the instance dropping will be ilvl 251 for normal 10 man, ilvl 264 for heroic 10 man and normal 25 man, and ilvl 277 for heroic 25 player mode.

The instance starts with the breach of the fortress, followed by facing down a legion of undead guards in a gauntlet. This first boss is Lord Marrowgar, a fused together construct of other dead bodies. You will then face Supreme Overseer of the Cult of the Damned, lady Deathwhisper. In addition, there will be a fight between Alliance and Horde characters, led by Saurfang and Bronzebeard aboard the Icecrown airships. After this fight, you will enter the three wings of the instance to face off against the Lich King’s minions before you face him.

  • Lord Marrowgar – Bone Guard leader of the Citadel Defenses
  • Lady Deathwhisper – Supreme Overseer of the Cult of the Damned
  • Airship Battle – Battle between Orgrim’s Hammer and the Skybreaker with the use of cannons, rocketpacks, and catapults between the ships.
  • Lich King’s Death Knight Champion – Probably Saurfang Jr.
  • Festergut – Abomination in the Plagueworks Wing
  • Rotface – Abomination in the Plagueworks Wing Professor Putricide – Creator of
    the Abominations in the Citadel.
  • Price Keleseth, Prince Taldaram, and Prince Valanar – All three of the Darkfallen Princes resurrected by San’layn.
  • Queen Lana’thel – Queen of the San’layn Blood Elves.
  • Valithria Dreamwalker – Green Dragon captured by the Scourge for experimentation.
  • Sindragosa – Queen of the Frostwyrms.
  • The Lich King – Arthas himself!

5 Man Instance ‐ Forge of Souls

The first of the three new 5 man instances is the Forge of Souls. This instance exists to provide an epic quest line in which players must weaken the forces of Icecrown Citadel so they can breach the doorway and get in to attack the Lich King thee. Technically, all three instances are part of the same full instance, but they have their own lockout timers and names. However, you will need to defeat them in order to get into the Frozen Throne.

The goal of this instance in particular is to follow Jaina for Alliance forces and Sylvanas for Horde forces as you work your way deep into the citadel to destroy the Soul Grinders located within its walls. You will need to defeat the following bosses:

Bronjahm, the Godfather of Souls– This boss is the watcher of the engines and Soul Grinders in the Forge of Souls. He must be killed before the grinders can be destroyed.

The Devourer of Souls – This is the operator of the engines in this wing and the guardian of the souls that have been stolen by the Lich King.

5 Man Instance – The Pit of Saron
In this wing of the Citadel, the goal is to defeat Scourgelord Tyrannus. You will first need to free allies that have been captured and enslaved by the Scourge. There are three total encounters as you work your way deeper into the instance and toward the Lich King.

Forgemaster Garfrost – the First boss in this instance is Garfrost who is the master of Scourge Weaponry. He has a number of different weapons and methods of attacking and harming you in this area because of the wide array of different attack methods he carries with him.

Krick and Ick – These are two mindless zombies that serve in the Pit of Saron mines. Krick is a leperous gnome and Ick is a beast of burden that Krick rides around.

Scourgelord Tyrannus – The Scourgelord is the target in this instance and has great power of the other mobs in this area. To move on to the third wing, you must kill him first.

5 Man Instance – Halls of Reflection
For this final wing of the instance, you must follow Jaina or Sylvanas to the Frigid Halls where you will recognize Frostmourne waiting for you. Here you will find the Lich King’s private chambers but first you must defeat a pair of captains and fight the Lich King himself.

Falric and Marwyn – The first encounter is with two of Arthas Menethil’s captains from before he died. They will be fought simultaneously but have separate health meters that play off of each other.

The Lich King – This is the first of two encounters against the Lich King. Obviously, you won’t defeat the Lich King here because you run into him again in the raid, but you will probably see a lot of interesting lore as Sylvanas and Jaina confront him at last.

World of Warcraft Add‐On Guide

Every good World of Warcraft player learns early on to rely on add‐ons – little UI and function changers that add all sorts of goodies to the screen in the game. These add‐ons can make a world of difference when you are competing in PvP, running instances or trying to find rare spawns on the map. They save you a great deal of time and often times patch holes in the UI that Blizzard has not yet gotten around to.

Unfortunately, there seem to be thousands of the things and they all add to your memory consumption and if you’re not careful can slow down how fast you play the game substantially. If you run with add‐ons, you need to be careful that you get good ones that will not over work your game or bog down your screen. It’s important to also keep in mind what the add‐ons are for.

That’s why we’ve put together a short guide to help you recognize when you need add‐ons and how to pick the right ones for your needs.

Leveling Add‐Ons
There are a number of different add‐ons that can help boost your leveling speed if
you know how to properly integrate them into your gameplay style. Here are a few of our favorites that should you keep on at all times:

Cartographer – There are a number of map mod add‐ons, and they each tend to offer similar benefits, but this has been one of our faves for a while. To start with, you can turn on all quest giver markers for an entire map, as well as having it show you which quests they have and what their names are. You will also have the entire map revealed before you start playing, which can help immensely with finding hot spots. You can also view coordinates on the screen, which will allow you to more accurately find the quest locations as marked in Quest Helper (another top choice).

Tom‐Tom – The different GPS add‐ons tend to offer very much the same benefits as Cartographer, but with a few added boosts. First off, you can see map coordinates on your mini‐map, which lets you keep from having to open up your map. Second, you can set waypoints on the map and Tom Tom will provide an in‐game arrow that directs you to your destination, making quest completion a snap.

Quest Helper - Quest Helper is the most popular add‐on for World of Warcraft for a number of reasons. It integrates directly with your quest interface, addons more useful tracking for each quest and tells you exactly what to do for each quest, according to an online database maintained by its users. As a result, you can find just about anything you need for your quests without needing to resort to an expensive in‐game leveling guide.

Altoholic – For those that run multiple characters through the game as alts, this add‐on provides a number of useful tools to help you keep track of them all without needing to log back out and in over and over again to check the stats, gear, or requirements of those characters. Perfect for anyone trying to get their last few Level 80s created.

Gold Making Add‐Ons
Next to leveling, the one other thing that everyone does is farm for gold. And it can be a crapshoot at best if you don’t have a good set of tools to help you realize what you need to be farming, and how to sell it. Here are a couple of the better tools out there to help make your life easier.

Auctioneer or Auctionater – Right now, these two add‐ons are about even in terms of popularity. Once upon a time auctioneer was the top of the pile, but recently Auctionater has added a number additional record and track all of the gathering nodes they run across in a given zone. It works for both Herbalism and Mining and doesn’t need the minimap tracking system, so you can continue to track other items on the map while this add‐on is on. In short, it creates in game routes to make quick runs around a zone when farming for ore or herbs.

Ackis Recipe List – This add‐on will scan all of your trade skill recipes and print a list of the recipes you don’t currently have. Basically, it shows you what you need to farm and how to go about getting those recipes – a very cool add‐on that works for more than just profession skills. Class specific skills like runeforging and poisons are included here as well.

Raiding Add‐Ons
By far, the part of the game that uses the most add‐ons is raiding. I will be honest
with you in saying that the add‐ons recommended here may not be the ones you end up using. If you’re in a guild, you may have a listing of add‐ons that are required by your guild leaders for all players. You may already have an interface that works well for you. Or you may just not like these and have different preferences. However, if you’re getting started in raiding, these are all good places to start to get your account in good order before you start running instances.

Recount – This add‐on provides in‐game graphical damage and healing data for your character. You can easily see all of the data from your raid and share it with whispers and chat by using quick, simple macros. Anyone that deals damage or who heals damage needs to have this add‐on on their account. It is the only way you’ll be able to get accurate numbers about how you are performing and to improve those numbers as you proceed through the game.

Deadly Boss Mods – There are dozens of boss mods in the game, but this is the best by far with a huge following and constant updates for new content. The best part about this mod, beyond its maps and in‐game strategies is the use of raid warnings to tell you when a boss is about to perform a certain attack. Any raiding group that has not worked together before or that is getting used to a new raid will get a great deal of benefit out of this mod.

Omen Threat Meter – Threat is one of the cornerstones of good raiding. If you don’t have a good handle on it, things will get messy very quickly. Blizzard has added a threat meter to the game recently, but honestly – it’s not very good. This add‐on still remains among the best for telling you where threat stands for both the tanks and any DPS and healing characters. You can track the Threat Per Second, compare to the tank and ensure that no one is going to make any serious mistakes when playing the game. This mod has probably saved teams from millions of wipes.

Atlas Loot – Atlas Loot is an addon that allows you to keep track of what loot can drop from mobs in the field, bosses in instances, instances as a whole, world raid bosses, faction rewards, and PvP rewards. Basically, anything you can get by completing tasks in the game is included in this add‐on. It can fit into any of the four categories in this article, but I’ll put it here because it gets used more often than not for a raid loot tracker. One of my favorite aspects of this add‐on is the wishlist. With so much loot in the game, having a list of what I would like to get along with where to go and get it makes it much easier to know what I’ll be doing on any given day when I log into the game.

Healbot – This is a very useful add‐on for healers that have trouble keeping track of all those raid party members who need healing. Combos can be created, macros integrated, and items even tossed into the mix to make healing a much more streamlined action – something that a lot of raid parties should jump at the chance of adding to their mix.

PvP Add‐Ons
Most of the add‐ons in the game are pointed towards PvE content because of all the data you can gather that is definite about those fights. However, in PvP, you may find that there are some instances where the data you would gather from these same add‐ons doesn’t do you much good. Knowing the threat or the healing order in a 5v5 match is meaningless because the other side isn’t affected by these things. There are some ways to boost your performance in PvP though with good add‐ons. Here are some of the better ones:

PitBull – This is a unit frames addon that does just about everything you could need it to. It allows you to customize every single aspect of your unit frames and is highly customizable to allow for just about any different options you need. This is a great add‐on for almost any team combat events, not just PvP.

Bartender4 – Action bars in World of Warcraft are okay, but they can use an upgrade, especially when you’re talking about high speed interactive PvP combat. This add‐on will replace your default action bars with much more efficient, high speed options. You can set up as many as you want, add other information such as bag bars, pet bars, and XP/Reputation bars, change their size and shape and move them around however you like. Basically, whatever you want your screen to look like, Bartender4 will accommodate.

As you can see, there are a number of top notch, high quality add‐ons out there, but they need to be carefully matched to your game needs. It’s okay to install them all, just remember to go into the interface options before you login to your character and turn off all the add‐ons you don’t need. This will allow you to switch seamlessly between which add‐ons are on or off when you turn the game on. You’ll run faster and get the benefits of them at the same time.

Druid Guide

The druid is a shapeshifting hybrid class, and is also one of the most versatile classes in the game. As with every other hybrid, druids need to specialize to be effective in any role. Due to their need to shapeshift to fulfill roles, they can only perform one role at a time. Druids must switch between the different shapes in order to adapt to situations as they come.

Strengths
  • Can heal, tank, or DPS
  • Can buff other players
  • Ability to go into stealth and shapeshift
  • Has aquatic form that allows for faster swimming and no breathe

Weaknesses
  • Can only wear cloth and leather armor
  • Shapeshifted forms are not as powerful as their counterparts
  • Limited race selection

Stats To Get For Cat Form (melee DPS)
  1. Agility
  2. Hit, Crit, Attack Power
  3. Stamina

Stats To Get For Healing (tree form)
  1. Spellpower
  2. Intellect, Spirit, Mana Regen
  3. Stamina

Stats To Get For Tanking (bear form)
  1. Stamina
  2. Dodge/Agility/Defense
  3. Hit/Expertise

Stats To Get For Caster DPS (moonkin form)
  1. Spellpower
  2. Spell Hit
  3. Spell Crit, Intellect
  4. Stamina
Gear to Look For
As a druid you will be limited to cloth and leather armor. If you are going to be tanking or doing melee DPS you will want to stick primarily to leather armor but if you are going to be doing DPS as a caster or healing then cloth is perfectly acceptable. Here are the different items that can benefit druids (it's a lot depending on your role, match up the stats to get with what you're doing
to the gear below).

Bandit, Eagle, Elder, Hierophant, Invoker, Monkey, Owl, Prophet, Sorcerer, Whale

Talent Templates
This is an example base build of the best form I think for grinding (cat form, melee DPS). You can basically stay in the feral tree until you get the talents I recommend, once you have all 55, it's probably best to start into the restoration tree unless you really feel you're missing something in feral.

Rotation Suggestion
Mangle, Rake until desired combo points reached, then Ferocious Bite or Rip depending on how many hit points mob has left.

Death Knight Guide

Death Knights are new classes that were introduced in Wrath of the Lich King. They operate a bit differently than the classic mana, energy, and rage bars that we are used to seeing. They have their own system of runes to generate runic power which kind of works like rage so if you've played a Warrior before you already have a head start in knowing how to play a Death Knight.

A Death Knight gets 6 runes total, 2 blood, 2 frost, and 2 unholy, prior to talent modification. The Death Knight's special attacks will use 1 or more runes in different combinations and once a rune is used it goes on a small cool down before it can be used again.

While you are using these abilities you generate runic power which is also a requirement for some of the other Death Knight abilities.

Strengths
  • Can wear any armor
  • Can tank or DPS
  • Ability to solo and grind exceptionally well
  • Very good in PvP
  • Can buff other members while grouped
  • Starts at level 55 (must have a character higher than 55 to create one)
  • Free mount and gear
Weaknesses
  • Cannot wear shields
  • Relies on active abilities to tank
  • Can be hard to play

Stats To Get For DPS
  1. Strength
  2. Hit Rating
  3. Crit
  4. Stamina
Stats To Get For Tanking
  1. Stamina
  2. Defense
  3. Strength/Hit/Expertise

Gear to Look For
The gear you will be after is going to be all plate armor if possible. Make sure you have high DPS weapons, stats on weapons aren't as important as the DPS, they aren't useless but don't take an incredibly lower DPS weapon because it has better stats unless it makes sense to do so. Your stat selection should be based on what role you are trying to fill, DPS or tanking.

Here are some of the green items that have random enchantments you can look for in the Auction House.

Bear, Beast, Champion, Soldier, and Tiger

Talent Templates
This is an example of a build you will want to use while farming or grinding. If you have more talent points to spend you can most definitely put almost all of them in the blood tree.

What you are looking for in the blood tree is anything that keeps you healed, helps you survive, or increases your damage.

Rotation Suggestion
Plague Strike, Icy Touch, Heart Strike, Heart Strike, Obliterate

Major Glyphs to Get
Glyph of Deathstrike
Glyph of Vampiric Blood

Dominate the Auction House with Auctionator

When it comes to making money on the Auction House, Auctionator is the best tool you can learn to use. Let's start by making sure you have the right version of Auctionator installed properly.

Head to Curse Gaming and find the Auctionator Addon, when I wrote this guide it was at http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/auctionator.aspx. There are two options, automatic install and manual install. I have used both but I would recommend automatic install. If you use automatic install, Curse will have you install a program called Curse Client. It will run in your system tray and allow you to quickly and efficiently update your addons without knowing how they work.

Otherwise, if you choose to use manual install, you will have to download updated versions manually when new patches come out. If you choose this option, download and extract the contents of the zip file from Curse into your World of Warcraft/Interface/Addons directory:

Once the Auctionator folder is inside your World of Warcraft/Interface/AddOns folder you can load up World of Warcraft (restart it if it's still running) and it will be installed.

Knowing Prices
The first and most important point I'm including in this section is that knowing prices is THE MOST IMPORTANT aspect to making gold with Auctionator. Auctionator DOES NOT tell you prices (although it gives you SOME informational tooltips), only you can figure these out. It takes awhile to get a feel for each market, and you might make a few mistakes learning it. This is not something I can teach you. I can't tell you that Frozen Orbs will sell between 60-80g consistently or that Dream Shards sell above 20g pretty well so if you see them lower buy them. This is only true for the realms I play on and at the time I wrote this section.

I'm also not going to keep these price estimates updated as time goes by, since they will inevitably fluctuate. There is also no right answer when you ask what is a Dream Shard worth. This is dependent on too many variables, what day of the week it is, what time of the day, how many people are playing, if it's Super Bowl Sunday, etc. Once you get a feel for the prices you'll realize that prices are dependent not only on the current market but also on the amount of time you're willing to spend finding a buyer. If you post Dream Shards up for 10g they will sell in minutes. You can sell a single Dream Shard at 30g and it will probably sell but it will take a week or more to find a buyer. The skill here is watching the prices, logging on and posting your inventory at the right time in the right quantities depending on how fast you want to liquidate it.

When Dream Shard demand rises above supply the Auction House will start to get depleted and prices will rise. If you're paying attention you can post remaining inventory at higher prices and they will sell, instead of undercutting the cheapest post.

The Shopping List
The Shopping List is an amazing feature that you've got to be aware of. Every time you do a search with Auctionator it saves the term in the left side, (which is called Recent Searches) and it saves the term even if it's a typo :(. Next time, all you have to do is click on the name of the item on the left and it will automatically search for the item and list the results in the appropriate format! You don't even need a keyboard to make hundreds of gold in a sitting with Auctionator.

'Recent Searches' gets pretty packed, pretty quick. It keeps the most recently and most popularly searched items at the top so the typos and less often search items sink down. It's even more effective to keep Shopping Lists of your favorite items. This way when you login you can load up your Shopping Lists to remember the hot items you have been tracking, you won't forget to look at Dream Shards or Small Dream Shards because they'll be right there. And best of all, you won't need a keyboard :).

Here is what it looks like, I created a fake test list to protect the innocent:

Buy Buy Buy
The buy feature in Auctionator is amazing. It will search, sort and organize all the auctions for a specific item. The best part is that it even shows how many items are in each price range. For instance it will say: 3 stacks of 20 or, for example, 20 stacks of 1; this tells you a lot.

After you click on the Buy tab, all you have to do is either type in the search term or click on one of the items on the left bar. The left bar is automatically populated with recent searches or manually populated with items if you're viewing a shopping list. Play around with the interface to get a feel for how it works.

The coolest thing is that it makes it so easy to buy a ton of auctions. All you have to do is click on the row with the price that you want to pay and click buy in the bottom right. It will then prompt you asking how many of the stacks you want to purchase. This is how I start out most of my auction sessions. I use my recent searches on the left (or shopping lists) to search for my favorite items. When I see the right prices I'll buy them out and post them higher.

Sell Sell Sell
The Sell tab is the most useful part of Auctionator. Instead of selling things individually, calculating and entering the values for each item, you can rapidly sell dozens of an item in a matter of seconds. Once you have the Sell tab selected, you just drag the item from your inventory into the Auction Item box in the top left. You can see here I put up my 149 Relic(s) of Ulduar. Auctionator will automatically load the list of matching items in the right column and let you select which position you want to sell them at.

I had a friend who didn't know he could select the price on the right side, he thought that Auctionator always undercut the lowest price. I showed him how to do this and he was extremely pleased. In the screen shot below I will probably post the Relics above the 2g 11s or maybe above the Relics for 2g 0s. Either way, all I have to do is select the price that I want to undercut and it will calculate the new individual and total prices.

Once you have the price highlighted you can select the duration of your auction. Always keep track of what the deposit is, if this goes too high you might need to lower your price to ensure that the auction will sell before the time expires. Finally, click either Create Auction, which, if possible, will sell everything in 1 stack or select Create Multiple Auctions and it will bring up this dialog:

This dialog lets you post auctions in the stack size that you want. For Dream Shards I would mostly do 5-10 stacks of 1, in this case I will do a 1 stack of 100 Relic(s) of Ulduar since this stack size sells very good.

Big Stack Small Stack

A lot of people post large stacks of high volume items at low prices so that they will sell quickly. It almost seems like they do this so people like me can pickup the stack, split it up and repost it for a profit. Who else is going to buy, for example, 20 Frozen Orbs for 50g each? All 3 tabs in Auctionator are really good ways to hunt down big stacks. You can even do this from the default search screen, but I don't recommend EVER using that (unless Auctionator starts saying there are no auctions and if that happens then logout or switch auction NPCs. Here's what a really good big stack looks like for Dream Shards:

This guy posted 80 Dream Shards at 17g each. I had already bought 1 stack and sold 12 of them for 24.55 and after this screenshot I bought the rest. These have been consistently selling for 22-30g on my realm, so I'm very confident that I will be able to sell them. So for a 1360g investment I can immediately start posting these up at the positions I want, and I don't have to wait for prices to adjust to make my profit. I'll probably sell these over the next several days for a total of, AT LEAST, 1800g for a nice ~440g profit.

It's good to keep stack size in mind when posting or buying. Imagine a scenario where you want to post 5 Dream Shards and the cheapest price listed is 17g. You need to look at that 17g listing and see how big the stack is. If it says 1 stack of 20, or 2 stacks of 20, you don't need to go that low with your price. Most people who buy things like Dream Shards don't buy stacks of Dream shards they buy individuals. They will search for the cheapest individually priced Dream Shard and buy that one. The above image is a good example of this. I'll post 5-10 Dream Shards at 24g 24s right after I buy them for 17g each.

However, THIS IS NOT TRUE FOR ALL ITEMS; particularly I've noticed that Relic(s) of Ulduar sell better in large stacks (of course so does cloth, ore, bars, herbs, etc). This is probably because people want to buy large even numbers for turn ins. I've been buying ALL RELICS for <1g>

Splitting and Combining Cosmic Essences
Watching Cosmic Essences is fun. At the time I write this Greater Cosmic Essences (Greaters) sell from 11-18g consistently. Lessers sell for 3-8g each. Do the math and you'll see these match up pretty well. But the fun part is that they don't always match up, in fact they actually hardly match up in my experience. In the last week alone I've seen Lessers selling for 3g each and Greaters selling for 15g, that's a 6g profit. It's not a ton but it's a really good thing to throw into the mix. This works both ways, you can find Greaters for sale for 12g buy them and split them and 20 minutes later sell them for 5g 50s each (I did this today!). Why would anyone buy a Greater Essence for 15g when there's a stack of Lessers for sale for 3g each? Who knows these things?

Closing Spreads
I call it a spread when items get listed with a large range of prices as a result of several poorly planned undercuts. Here's a hypothetical example of what I mean. Let's say you search for Dream Shards and see (5x1 means 5 stacks of 1):

10x1@24g
5x1@23g
12x1@22g <--- SPREAD TOP
1x1@21g
1x5@20g
1x1@19g
3x1@18g <--- SPREAD BOTTOM
What we see here is that the 1x5 stack isn't an individual stack so most buyers aren't going to buy this stack. So now we see the spread a little different, 3 items are blocking the price at 18g, 1 is sitting at 19g, the one at 20g isn't going to sell to most buyers and there is only 1 at 21g. What you can do here is buy the 5 individual Dream Shards at 18g, 19g and 20g and repost them either at 21g 90s or competitively somewhere higher on the stack. This might seem obscure or unlikely, maybe it seems obvious to you (that's good) my point is that sometimes items are priced lower than they seem. In this example the 18g Shards are a steal, ESPECIALLY considering the range that Dream Shards usually sell.

You really have to look at stack sizes and the quantity of items that are selling at the prices to determine how much you can afford or risk to move to higher prices. Just last night I saw Abyssal Crystals in a similar setup, however the price differences were in 5g segments so it was a much better deal. I was able to buyout all the individual Abyssal Crystals below 100g and repost them all and sell them all that night. I believe my total investment there was about 400g and I resold them for just a little less than 500g. If I hadn't bought out the low posted Crystals the perceived value of the Crystals would have stayed well below 100 gold and I wouldn't have been able to sell the others that high. Here's a real example, notice where the REAL value of Shards is:

Watching Your Existing Auctions
After you've posted everything and spent 20-30 minutes shopping, buying, selling and making numerous trips from the mailbox and back you've got to remember to check your More tab. This will give you a recap of what you're doing. It will even show you if you're still holding the cheapest position with all the items you have posted (green check mark) or if you have been undercut (red X). Most of the time if you've been undercut it's not the end of the world, prices will adjust and your item will have its time. Notice how many Dream Shards I have up right now, I took this picture in the evening when everyone was posting so prices were dropping quickly, they'll come back up though.

Other times you might need to immediately repost your item and undercut the other guy. Items like Frozen Orbs, Abyssal Shards and lvl 213 epics might experience price inflation and you might know that's about as high as they are going to go. To milk that opportunity you need to undercut by a small amount keeping the price high but keeping the best position so that when a buyer comes around your item sells.

In times like this (when demand is lower than supply but the prices remain inflated), you want to keep the best position on the Auction House while prices adjust downward. Just because there are more sellers than buyers doesn't mean there aren't buyers who aren't going to wait for prices to adjust before making a purchase. There's a button on the bottom you can click to refresh all active auctions or you can select them individually and they will update.

No Deposit Items
You don't have to be an enchanter to make a ton off enchants. Items like Dream Shards, Small Dream Shards, Lesser & Greater Cosmic Essences, Abyssal Crystals and even Frozen Orbs (this isn't an all inclusive list, there are more!) have ABSOLUTELY NO DEPOSIT! That means you can post them at any price you want for up to 48 hours and not pay anything if they don't sell. You can even take them down if you want to reposition them. I don't know why Blizzard did this, maybe to create an economy just around these items, whatever the reason this is the best place to start for beginners to start playing the WoW market.

Start with a few items at a time, like Dream Shards and Greater Cosmic Essences, start watching them and learning how their prices move. If you're a risk taker, which you'll need to be in order to be really successful, buy a stack or a few low priced items and sneak them in at different prices. This way you can see that it's not only the lowest item that sells (well, it is, but during times of heavy buying an expensive Dream Shard will EVENTUALLY sell even though it wasn't posted as the cheapest). Posting your items in the cheapest spot isn't ALWAYS the best strategy, it's mostly for people who are impatient or have a lot of inventory. With no deposit items, you can play around without risking a deposit. It's also useful for high volume items you have a ton of and need to get rid of, just make sure you're making a suitable profit.

Adjusting Your Undercut
In the Auctionator menu (in the top right) there's an Undercutting menu. You've got to adjust your undercut. This won't only help you make money but it will help everyone else who is playing this game. Ever notice how prices step downward. For instance someone posts a Dream Shard at 30g, then someone posts one for 29g 90s, next someone for 28g, next 27g 90s, next 27g 80s, etc. The people who undercut by exactly 10s are probably using an addon, the people who undercut by a whole number of gold are both impatient, crazy and not using an addon. Now if everyone used an addon it would take 10 posters to undercut 1 gold (10 silver per poster). This isn't bad, but if everyone used an addon that undercut by only 1 silver instead of 10 it would take 100 posters to bring the price down by 1 gold. Of course that's pretty idealistic. Some people might say that if you don't lower the prices enough people won't buy, that's hogwash. Most people who need a Dream Shard for an enchant aren't going to shop around for it, they are just going to pay the cheapest price on the Auction House. When they do this, they get a warm fuzzy feeling inside because they think they got a great deal.

Here are the undercuts I use. This will instantly increase all of your profits.

Finding, Buying and Reselling Hot Items
Finding, buying and reselling hot items on the Auction House is one of the best things you can do with any character, regardless of it's level and with only a little bit of gold. The trick is to know which items will sell, how long they will take to sell and how much that buyer will pay. Some items, like specific greens, might appear to be worth only 10-25g but in reality a new level 68 Death Knight might have the bank to drop 150g on a chest piece with the right stats. Twinks will also buy some items for insane amounts, since your realm might only see a few of a specific item get posted every month. Disenchanters also have the ability to scan the Auction House and buy greens within certain level ranges below their disenchant value (see the Enchanting section for more details). Below I'm going to share the items that I watch for, and the approximate values they are worth.

My Favorite Hot Items (enchanting and crafting mats)
Dream Shards, Abyss Crystals and Frozen Orbs are my favorite items to watch. They regularly fluctuate in price and sell in high volume (read the Getting Started section above for more details on how to start tracking your realm's prices).Frozen Orbs sell in high volume and most buyers are impulsive. Players who finish a heroic after winning the roll on the Frozen Orb are impatient to sell and will usually sell way below market price. You can make 100g an hour ONLY buying Frozen Orbs in Trade Channel. You can find both Dream Shards and Abyss Crystals in bulk from enchanters who don't follow the market and know their price. Learn the prices of your realm and start advertising in trade that you buy. When the opportunities come around you can make some serious coin this way. Since Patch 3.2 came out Titanium Ore has sustained high volume and will drop very low when farmers return with their harvest (they are usually desperate to sell fast). You can still find farmers who will sell below the old price and you can turn around and sell at the new higher price.Even without farmers you can watch Titanium Ore like any other item. Titansteel Bars fluctuate just enough to be a good item to watch. You can also buy Eternal Fires, Shadows, Earths and Titanium and pay Miners for their Smelt Titansteel cooldown. In just an hour of advertising in trade you can make well over 100g paying people very little to smelt a half dozen Titansteel Bars. Make sure you buy the Eternals and Titanium when prices are low. Eternals are also easy to watch. Once you get a feel for how they fluctuate you can buy stacks of 20 at very low prices when farmers return with their harvest. I recently picked up over 80 Eternal Airs that were all priced at 2g 20s and resold them all between 8-12g each. Among the 6 Eternals, Eternal Fires are the best to watch since they fluctuate the most and spike above 25g.

Raid Bind on Equips
A lot of PUGs are running Naxx, Malygos, Obsidian Sanctum and even Ulduar these days, and when BoEs drop either the raid leader nabs them or they do a roll. Shortly afterwards you'll see a confused person in trade trying to sell a ilvl 200+ epic item. The secret is, they usually have no idea how much it is worth. To be honest, sometimes I don't, but that doesn't stop me from being the first person to offer them 500g, or 1000 gold after doing a quick wowhead search to confirm it's a valuable item. Whenever you see someone in trade selling a level 80 epic, check the iLvl, and if it's above or equal to 200 look up the item as quickly as possible and if you can, ask someone who plays the class who would equip it how good it is. If it's a BiS (best in slot) item, make a lowball offer and see if you can resell it. Always post these items with a different character than the one you trade with. Throw them up for 2-3x as much as you expect to get for them. Then, sit in trade with your trade character selling the same item offering to undercut the person who is selling it on the Auction House for the ridiculous price. Buyers will feel like they are getting a good deal and you'll be able to work down to a fair price.

Here's the WoTLK raid BoE lists, you should familiarize yourself with the lists when you have time:

Twink Items
A twink is a character who stops leveling at a certain point, usually level 19 or 29, and collects the best piece of gear for each slot to fight in battlegrounds against other people in their level's bracket (level 10-19 or 20-29). Most people choose Hunters or Rogues to twink. Twink gear, the best stuff for levels 19 and 29, is worth tons given the right customer. Some items, like an Assassin's Blade, can fetch a price of 500g for someone's twink. Since a server might not see this item again for a long time, twinks will dump their wallet for a chance to have the best possible piece of gear for their level. The best way to find these is to search the Auction House for level 19:

The next challenge is identifying items that are undervalued before someone else does. You can use Auctioneer to show %s next to the price of each item (as discussed in the intro), this can help you pick out under-priced items to re-list. Otherwise, I've compiled some lists of items that I watch out for. Don't expect to find these items the first time you search the Auction House. I do these searches almost daily.

Here's a list of level 19 twink items. Keep in mind the average value column is an average over all realms, so this can vary on your realm and, in my experience, most items will sell for a lot more.

  • Shadowfang 550g
  • Assassin's Blade 250g
  • Darkweave Breeches 150g
  • Magefist Gloves 110g
  • Mindthrust Bracers 100g
  • Staff of the Blessed Seer 100g
  • Twisted Chanter's Staff 90g
  • Boahn's Fang 50g
  • Ironpatch Blade 50g
  • Keller's Girdle 50g
  • Night Reaver 50g
  • Sentry Cloak 50g
Here's a similar list for level 29 twinks:

  • Burning War Axe 120g
  • Vendetta 120g
  • Gnarled Ash Staff 90g
  • Vibroblade 80g
  • Oscillating Power Hammer 50g
  • Dense Triangle Mace 50g
  • Staff of the Shade 50g
  • Supercharger Battle Axe 45g

Level 40, 58 and 68 Greens
There are three more categories of gear that are very popular. The first is level 40 plate and mail. At level 40 Warriors and Paladins gain access to plate armor and Shamans and Hunters gain access to mail armor. This means that most characters will rush to the Auction House (if they didn't already in preparation of) to upgrade their level 30s mail to plate or leather to mail. So our job is to make sure that the prices accurately reflect the supply & demand curve (aka, we screw them by price gouging).

  • Hunters upgrading to mail - of the Monkey
  • Shamans upgrading to mail - of the Eagle, Falcon, Monkey
  • Warriors upgrading to plate - of the Monkey or Tiger
  • Paladins upgrading to plate - of the Eagle, Bear, Monkey or Tiger
The next big cut offs are level 58 & 68. Characters leveling through the 50s & 60s end up with really crappy gear compared to the Outland greens that open up at 58 and Northrend greens that open up at 68. Once they hit that level all bets are off because they gain access to all the greens that drop in Outland/Northrend. The stats on these greens are scaled entirely different and will make it possible for a level 58 to breeze through Hellfire Peninsula or a 68 to breeze through Howling Fjord or Borean Tundra. I purchase these greens, particularly the most popular of them, and resell them a lot higher.

You can tell the difference between an Outland item and an Old World item by it's iLvl (visible with ItemLevel AddOn or Auctioneer). Outland greens start at iLvl 84, You won't find a green from the Old World that high. The same applies for Northrend items, however those greens start at 130. The greens in Outlands go to about 111. You can't just buy out all greens though. I stick to suffix items because they are so easy to interpret and re-list. For example, you wouldn't want to try to resell cloth 'of the Falcon' since it has agility on it (what cloth wearer is going to use agility?). Neither would you want anything that is 'of the Wolf', since Wolf is a combination of Agility and Spirit. The most popular suffix items are 'of the Monkey' plate armor. The reason being, all three plate wearers, Paladins, Death Knights and Warriors can use this stuff.

In conclusion, purchase any level 58 or 68 leather/mail/plate of the Monkey/Tiger if it's price doesn't already reflect this increased demand. Be careful, make sure the stats reflect Outland or Northrend stats, don't accidentally buy a level 53 green of the monkey and try to resell it.

Rare Pets
A niche you may want to look into if you have the time is pets. Pets are very popular with many players and you can make decent profit by selling them on the Auction House. In the Leisure section of the guide buying holiday pets is discussed but in this section I'm going to talk about selling pets on the neutral Auction House. I should also note that often times you can sell your faction's pets on your Auction House because many players are too lazy to visit the vendor to buy it themselves, don't realize that the item is bought from a vendor, certain pets require certain faction or currency to be purchased that many players don't have, and because some are on limited supply vendors that must be farmed.

The pets in the tables below are some pets that you can buy from vendors and then sell on the Auction House if you choose to do so.

There are a few pets that drop around the world. However, they are so ridiculously difficult to obtain that they are not worth farming, even though they sell for upwards of 1,000 gold. I wanted to include a list of these in case you see them under priced on the Auction House. If you do see them, do some quick research to make sure there drop rate hasn't been recently increased. Otherwise, pick them up and try to make bank off of them. Here's the list (I've excluded their source for simplicity):

  • Disgusting Oozeling 3,500g
  • Tiny Emerald Whelpling 2,200g
  • Tiny Crimson Whelpling 1,500g
  • Azure Whelpling 1,000g
  • Captured Firefly 1,000g
  • Cat Carrier (Black Tabby) 1,000g
  • Black Whelpling 1,000g
How to Find your Own Niche to Sell
Finding your own niche is not as hard as it sounds. What you want to do here is start with everything you're knowledgeable with. For example, if you're a Blacksmith, you know exactly what you can make and you know exactly how much it should sell for...or maybe you don't and that's why you need to search for items you craft in the Auction House to see if anyone is selling them and how much they are selling for. You can do this with every profession you have.

Another way to find a niche is to base it off what you are currently doing in game. If you're doing daily quests and you recognize a quest requires a reagent that is in high demand by other players, see what that reagent is going for on the Auction House. Or maybe you run instances all day and you have Frozen Orbs or something else that drops in the instance and you can control those niches. Anything you regularly obtain or regularly sell gives you a huge advantage over other players when looking for your own niche to make money off of.

Let's say you've been farming Relics of Ulduar in The Storm Peaks to sell on the Auction House, well you are already aware of how much you get for them, so what's to stop you from buying out any of them that are cheap and reselling them. I'm just using these as examples, there's no limit to how many items you can control.

Some people on my server don't craft or even do anything in the game except check the Auction House. You'll find them buying out gear that they know is cheap just to resell it at a higher price. This one guy buys "of the champion" tanking gear from Wrath of the Lich King and resells it for over 100g a piece. Normal players who randomly obtain these items have no idea what their value is and when they list it in the Auction House for 10g he's already in there buying it and relisting it for a much higher price.

When you focus on things that you already know and do (area of competence), making gold is that much easier for you because you're always one step ahead of the competition.

Miscellaneous Strategies

Artificially Inflating Prices
This strategy involves using two or more characters in order to convince a potential buyer that an item is worth more than it actually is. In many of the crafting professions I've outlined specific pieces of gear that can be crafted and posted, in other cases I've talked about particular rare items which have prices that are very negotiable. These exclude items that are easy to obtain. A great example would be a bind on equip epic from normal Naxxramas, or the BoE epics that drop from heroic instances. The price might be difficult to gauge and if you begin negotiations with another player you'll want to make sure you have something to base your offer on. You can do this by putting the item on the Auction House using an alt with a different name. Put it up for, say, 2200g, and then advertise in trade that you're selling the same item for only 1500g (700g less than the Auction House), but only for a limited time because you need gold NOW! Alternatively, if you're quiet about it, a buyer might ask 'how much?' and you can respond with 'hold on, let me check the Auction House'. Keep this trick in mind when dealing with low supply/questionable valued items.

Pre-Patch Buyouts
On Tuesday's the servers oftentimes go down for maintenance or patch. When these servers go offline people aren't able to access anything, not even login. But you'll be surprised to learn that the Auction House doesn't stop ticking time away on the auctions. This means if you post an auction sometime before the server goes down, there will be a period of time when no one is able to buy it. So how does this work in your favor? Simple! If you know a patch day or maintenance day is coming, the night before or hours before the patch, you go into the Auction House and just bid on everything that's priced low. Not buyout, BID! It's important that you bid because the buyout price is usually significant higher than the bid price. If you find auctions that will expire before the server goes down no one else will be able to bid on that same item and best of all, if the person who posted the Auction didn't get a bid for what they wanted, they won't be able to login and cancel the auction. This means you can basically steal items for bid that are expiring prior to maintenance / patch days. This also means you shouldn't post auctions before these days because the same could happen to you!
